MayanCraft Quality Control Commitment

At MayanCraft, quality is not a final step—it’s a promise that begins before production and lasts beyond delivery. Every product we export reflects our deep respect for the artisan’s skill, the client’s expectations, and the cultural heritage we share with the world.

🧵 1. Quality Starts Before Production

Before any order begins, we request a prototype or sample. This is essential to:

  • Confirm color accuracy (especially for custom requests).
  • Validate materials and their combinations.
  • Provide photographic samples to the client for final approval.

Only once the client confirms the sample do we initiate full-scale production.

🔍 2. Rigorous In-House Evaluation

Each piece is reviewed individually by our internal quality control team. This isn’t a random check. We verify:

  • Seam and stitch integrity.
  • Embroidery precision.
  • Color accuracy and alignment with approved sample.
  • Measurements and proportions.
  • Finishing details and overall durability.

Products that do not meet our standards are separated, reworked, or replaced. This may extend delivery times slightly, but we never compromise on quality.

👥 3. Who Conducts the Inspections?

Our control team is composed of seasoned experts who understand not just the craftsmanship, but also the expectations of wholesale buyers. Final validation is conducted by either Albita or Estuardo—our lead quality supervisors—before packaging.

“Reorders are only possible when the first delivery exceeds expectations. That’s our goal every time.” — Albita, Co-Founder of MayanCraft

✅ 4. Quality Criteria (Yes, We Have Standards)

Even though every product is handmade and inherently unique, we use clear criteria to assess suitability:

  • Adherence to the approved sample
  • Acceptable tolerances for variations
  • Usability and expected product lifespan
  • Ethical origin of upcycled materials (e.g., used huipiles)

We do not seek industrial uniformity. Instead, we guarantee presentability, usability, and excellence.

📋 5. Documentation & Traceability

Each shipment is accompanied by a traceability document that outlines:

  • Total quantity of items
  • Size breakdown (if applicable)
  • Internal validation signature
  • Special notes (if any)

This document is both physical and digital, and remains part of our internal records.

📦 6. Packaging Matters Too

Depending on the product type, we adapt packaging to ensure protection without unnecessary plastic. Delicate items such as jewelry or soft huipiles are wrapped with protective layers.

For clients providing their own logistics, we ensure that goods are pre-weighed and packed for secure transfer.

💬 7. Handling Special Instructions

We follow specific client requests with extreme attention, including:

  • Placement of labels or branding
  • Custom embroidery positioning
  • Color matching
  • Batch grouping

Every instruction is documented and cross-checked before packing.

🔁 8. What Happens to Defects?

If a product is identified as defective:

  • It is immediately removed from the batch.
  • A replacement is developed if time permits.
  • If not replaceable, it is excluded and documented.

Nothing leaves our warehouse unless it meets both artisan and MayanCraft standards.

🌿 9. Special Case: Upcycled Huipiles

Many of our textiles use reclaimed huipiles. These are not simply washed—they are:

  • Expertly restored with handwork.
  • Treated to prevent dye fading.
  • Repaired in a way that honors the original textile.

This process not only extends their life—it also gives them a new cultural chapter to share abroad.

📍 10. Why This Matters

We don’t believe in one-time buyers. We work for ongoing relationships. Our control process is not about perfection, but about reliability. Every client who receives our products should feel:

  • Confident in resale or use.
  • Proud to share the story of the product.
  • Satisfied enough to reorder.
